Cordwainers Court, newly acquired by AA4S, is a purpose-built student hall situated in Hackney. The building provides 102 affordable bedrooms in a vibrant setting with lots of local transport links.
Cordwainers Court can be found in the heart of Hackney, East London, close to the Overground and many bus routes, as well as the beautiful London Fields and Victoria Park.
The area has several supermarkets and shops and is within easy reach of the city, hubs such as Stratford and the docklands, and Hoxton and Shoreditch, where there are plenty of popular bars and restaurants.
Cordwainers is ideal for students needing accommodation for a 50-week period from September.
Cordwainers is a four-storey building that comprises 26 flats each with 4 large single study bedrooms.
Each room has broadband and comes fully furnished with a bed, wardrobe, bedside cabinet, desk, chair and shelving, and has a lockable door. You even have a washbasin in your room.
There is a large social space for our residents with a large TV, study space and plenty of seating to relax.
Residents are responsible for keeping the communal areas of their flats clean as well as their own rooms. Each flat has a shared kitchen, shower and toilet facilities, and is heated with an individual boiler.
All flats are non-smoking. You will need to bring your own bedding, pots and pans that can be used on induction hobs, crockery and cutlery.
Flats are all-male, all-female and mixed sex and are offered to those undergraduate and postgraduate students who require 50-week accommodation contracts.

Well Street Hall is for first year undergraduate students. Claredale House is ideal for for continuing undergraduate and postgraduate students. Cordwainers Court is for undergraduate and postgraduate students requiring a 50-week contract only. We will only consider your application based on your first choice of building so please only apply for one building.
If offered a room, you will be asked to pay a two-week advanced rent payment.
This all depends on when you cancel the contract.
If you cancel with more than 56 days to go before the start of contract, the deposit will be returned in full.
If you cancel with less than 56 days to go, we will retain £150 of the deposit as a cancellation fee. If you cancel with less than 14 days to go, we will retain £250 as a cancellation fee.
The deposit is returned to you in full, if you do not owe us any money, within 28 days of the end of the contract.
Rent is paid in advance and you will have to make your first rent payment when you move in. If you live with us for the full academic year you will have to pay rent on 3 separate occasions; once in September, once in January and the final payment in April.
If you are sponsored or have a scholarship, you might want to pay your rent on a monthly basis. If this is the case, we can discuss this with you.
When you agree to take on a room, it's for the whole academic year. This means, if you want to leave early we can only refund your rent if we get someone else to take your room. If you want to terminate your contract, you must let us know in writing.
If you leave University for educational or health reason, please speak to us about this.
No, you can come and go as you please at any time of the day or night bu the common room is closed overnight. You're given a gate code to enter the building. Just make sure that you do not let anybody into the building who you do not recognise and when you come and go from the building, please do so quietly.
You will need to provide your own bedding (duvet, duvet cover, sheets, pillows, pillow cases). For information, the beds are 6 feet 3 inches x 3 feet.
You will also need to provide your own pots, pans, crockery and cutlery.
Please note we have induction hobs in the kitchen so you will need to have the right type of pan to use on the hobs. The best way to check if you have the correct pans is to place a magnet on them. If a magnet sticks then you have the right pans.
The Association has provided room contents insurance for the duration of your stay through cover4insurance. This covers a wide range of belongings within your room, including laptops, sports and electrical equipment and clothes. We advise you to review your cover.
You have the option to extend your policy to suit your individual needs and avoid being under-insured.

You do! You are responsible for keeping your flat clean. We provide refuse and recycling bags. You will have a vacuum cleaner in your flat.
YYes, friends and family are more than welcome to visit. Guests are not allowed to stay overnight without the written permission from the Hall Manager. Please remember, you are responsible for your guests and their behaviour.
We have no parking facilities
Meeting your new flatmates can be really exciting but sometimes a little daunting and don't worry as that is perfectly natural.
The most important thing to remember is to talk to each other when you first move in. You will soon realise that your flatmates are probably feeling the same as you.
The most common flat problems revolve around situations which might seem quite mundane such as washing up, cleaning, slamming of doors, front doors being left open, etc. However, if these things are not dealt with, flatmates can end up getting fed up and annoyed with each other.
Being a flatmate brings with it responsibilities. The best way to deal with these problems, or avoid them from happening is to realise that you have to show respect for your flatmates. Help keep the flat clean try not to leave plates unwashed in the kitchen, take the rubbish to the bins in the courtyard, keep the noise down and let flatmates know you are having visitors.
Some residents set up cleaning rotas at the beginning of the year.
Sometimes, there might be occasions where you might need to admit that you are sometimes wrong. By and large, everything works well and sharing a flat is great fun. Remember! The most important thing to remember. It's good to talk to each other!
There is a shower and two toilets in each flat.

Please email us or pop into the on-site office, by the main gate. The office is open Monday – Friday 8.30am – 1pm and 2pm – 4:30pm. Outside office hours, we have Subwardens on duty until midnight and we will give you information about them when you come to stay.
You can request to share with your friends but we cannot guarantee we will be able to help you with your request. This is because a lot of our flats are allocated to postgraduates and continuing students and therefore there will be very few flats left available to offer to groups of people. If we can, please bear in mind this might affect the size of the bedroom we are able to offer you.
We take fire safety very seriously in our buildings and it is important that tenants do too.
We have 3 buildings and they all have slightly different procedure when a fire alarm is activated due to the layout of the building.
When you move into your room, please familiarise yourself with the fire alarm assembly points in your building.
If a fire alarm is activated in your flat/room immediately leave your flat/room and go directly to the fire assembly point.
Once a member of staff or a Fire Officer tells you that it is safe to return to your flat, you can then do so.
